Going to school was something that other kids in Phnom Penh did. Not Markara. His parents couldn’t afford the school fees and they needed Markara to spend the time working on the street, collecting recyclables to boost the family’s income. Then Markara started going to the Sunshine Centre, a school that was set up to help working kids in Phnom Penh get an education. Now, at the age of 16 Markara will embark on a new venture for the centre. He will be their first graduate and he was about to start his first job in an electronics shop.
